Robert W. Kembel, Director of Education and partner in Solution
Technology, has a career spanning more than 35 years in the computer
industry. His experience includes field engineer, system test
engineer, ASIC designer, I/O system architect, document editor
in the National Committee for Information Technology Standards,
consultant in Fibre Channel standards related projects, author,
course developer, and teacher.
Bob’s experience in the computer industry began at IBM
with more than 28 years in product development and I/O subsystem
architecture and design. While at IBM, he represented IBM's high-performance
storage products at the ANSI Fibre Channel and SCSI committees
(X3T11 and X3T10). Bob has operated as an independent consultant
and trainer specializing in Fibre Channel, FICON, ESCON, and storage
networking standards and architecture.
Bob has developed courses and acted as an instructor for Solution
Technology for many years prior to joining the company as a partner
in 2002. In his role as Director of Education, he is responsible
for developing the strategic directions for Solution Technology
training seminars.
Bob Kembel continues to be an active member of the National Committee
for Information Technology Standards, which is developing Fibre
Channel standards. He is the author of the industry leading Fibre
Channel Consultant series of books including: Fibre Channel:
A Comprehensive Introduction, Fibre Channel Arbitrated Loop, and
Fibre Channel Switched Fabric.
